Hey everyone!
Tomorrow I board my plane to Japan, though I won’t actually arrive in Japan until the next day. I am really becoming nervous, but I am also very excited. A word of advice, try to really get on your packing early on. I tried packing early, starting last week, but I still ended up doing some last minute packing. I have two large suitcases filled, about 46 pounds each. I’ve been really nervous about not having enough room to bring back souvenirs, but both of my parents have told me to just ship back my jackets, sweaters, and boots. That way I will have enough room for all my souvenirs. As well, I have packed my scrapbook, a duffel bag, toiletries, and I think that is all.
I also have two carry on bags. My back-pack, which is pretty packed with my neck pillow, laptop, my Miami bear, and an extra set of clothes. I have a carry-on purse with snacks, and stuff to keep my occupied for 14+ hours on the plane… ugh!
Like I said, I’m still pretty nervous, but I’m also excited. My next update will be from Japan, so get excited!!
Love you all,
Stephanie

Hi Steph,
We are so excited for you- you will be great and better to have a few extra things than forgetting something…..that’s what UPS is for! This will be such an incredible opportunity for you. Be sure to soak everything up and take lots of pictures. Make sure you keep a written journal as well for yourself and document even the smallest things……you will be surprised what it will mean to you later in life. Nadja had her going away party tonight and one of the kids who came over is another exchange student from Russia- oddly enought her host Mom here in
Charlotte was also an exchange student in Japan when she was in College…..small world! You will love it- we will look forward to your posts from Japan. We are so proud of you. Lots of love coming your way, Aunt Stacey and family

I can’t stop thinking about you and your journey! Right now you are at the airport, probably a bit nervous. I got to wondering after I talked to you last night…..who picks you up at the airport?? Well, I’m sure you’ve got that worked out, but the nervous mom in me is making my wheels turn. I wonder if you slept at all last night? Oh well, not like you don’t have a spare 14 hours to catch up on some sleep. I can’t wait to hear that you’ve arrived.
Love
Aunt Jean

Now that you’ve been abroad for almost three months, is there anything you wish you had/hadn’t packed?
